Money. It fascinated me deeply from a young age.
Everyone has a different threshold for how much money they need to live a fulfilling life for themselves and their loved ones.
From an early age, I was intensely interested in money. I saw what it was capable of. Unfortunately, this passion also limited me, because I thought about it far too often. My business journey began quite innocently, but this passion strongly influenced it. After finishing school, I wanted to join a bank simply because I would be counting money there. You can laugh. I do too today. Then I realized that counting other people’s money would probably not satisfy me, and I would rather count my own. When, in 1992 at the age of twenty, I generated revenue of three million Czech crowns within three months, that becomes a powerful addiction capable of consuming you.
I have been in business for over thirty years and have been an employee only once, for exactly four years. It was a fantastic experience. In 2001, I wanted to learn how a large company operates. My own company was no longer enough for me, so I sold it. I joined Oracle as a junior sales representative for small financial institutions, and within four years, as an ambitious young man climbing the corporate ladder, I became Sales Director for Oracle Applications across several countries in the region.
Yes, I was very successful and earned a great deal of money. But what was far more valuable was that I understood how large corporate organizations function, how to manage bigger teams, and how crucial forecasting is in sales. I learned excellent sales methodologies, understood why major corporations use such complex contracts, and much more. I must not forget the great friends I met there.
Today, money represents a tool for improving the world around me. I am interested in the broader societal impact of business and investments. I only build and support what I genuinely believe in.
