Obsession with creation
Do you have any obsessions? I need to constantly create something, and at the same time, I don’t like unfinished things. Both in myself and in my surroundings. One day, a friend sent me a text message asking if I wanted to buy his house. It’s a sad story because his wife died and he was left alone with small children. It wasn’t an easy time for him at all. I saw how he tried to fight fate, whether successful or not, everyone sees it differently. What matters is how he and his children see it. He never completely finished building the house. You can see the house on our street, which has been without a facade for 20 years, overgrown with thuja trees. Yet the house is simple, architecturally nothing wrong with it, just unfinished. I can’t help myself when I see unfinished things. I feel sorry for people who don’t finish them, and for me it’s like an unfinished cycle.
We bought the house with the aim of finishing the facade, completing the beautiful garden, and preparing it for someone looking for a new beginning. My wife tells me that I’m always worrying about things. She’s right, but I like to create and finish things. It just satisfies me when things are put in order, “as they should be.” My sister is exactly the same; she’s an architect. Creating is part of her job description. I’m an entrepreneur, it’s in my nature. I think my sons are exactly the same. The older one either writes code for video processing software or creates things with his hands. He paints beautifully and makes beautiful tables. The younger one went to study far away, across the pond. He is drawn to create things. He didn’t have any practical experience, but he found a college where they taught theory through practical examples.
When I’m not creating, it’s as if I’m not living, I don’t have anything positive behind me that helps and brings joy to others. Creating is very important in my life. I learn through it, I try, I mess up, but I improve. Yes, I am an amateur builder. Creating has a big impact on the environment. Just that house, which now looks much better, creates a pleasant environment for the neighbors, who are happy that “things are being put in order.”
I love the Krkonoše Mountains, especially the place where I spent most of my vacations when I was little. It is a log cabin over a hundred years old, which my parents tried to maintain so that it would not lose the character of an original log cabin. It is a beautiful place with an even more beautiful view of Kotelní jámy, Dvoračky, and the whole of Vítkovice. When our neighbor on the hillside died, I was honestly afraid of who would live there and what would happen to his cottage and our peace and quiet. And what do you think happened? Yes, we bought it. Such a view is priceless. And once again, we are going to build. Unfortunately, his cottage is actually a log cabin made for show, a classic building from the 1950s. Unfortunately, for the last 10 years, our neighbor has been in a wheelchair, and this is very evident in the condition of the house. We have to tear it down and build a new log cabin. I’m looking forward to having friends, children, and us visiting there. Everything will be fine again. There will be a nice cottage on the hillside again.
